Topic: Describe how a concept from class can be applied in a real-life setting (teaching, clinical, childcare, etc.) Your topic should relate directly to some aspect of the cognitive development of infants, children, or teens.
I’ve uploaded the Essay instruction as well. But here is the requirement of the paper below as well.
3-5 pages, double-spaced (paper);
Paper: Essay format, with introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion
Cite at least 3 sources: two articles from peer-reviewed journals, and at least one
additional source (textbook / newspaper / magazine / reputable website / TED talk / etc.)
Cite your sources in APA format (internally, and at the end of the paper under References.)
For a video: you can include this at the end, or send your Reference page separately.
Topic: Describe how a concept from class can be applied in a real-life setting (teaching,
clinical, childcare, etc.) Your topic should relate directly to some aspect of the cognitive
development of infants, children, or teens. In your research, find a specific technique/method/
recommendation/etc. that has been developed relating to that concept. (E.g., your topic
should not be “scaffolding,” but could be specific scaffolding techniques used to teach math.)
o Examples include (but are not limited to): teaching methods based on Piaget OR
Vygotksy’s theory; techniques for scaffolding speech or language development;
alternatives to standardized testing; how media for children (TV shows, computer
games, etc.) can be used in ways that benefit cognitive development; diagnostic
methods or therapeutic treatments for children with ADHD; and MANY others.
o Choose a topic based on your interests! If you’re an education major, you may want to
focus on teaching techniques; if you’re an aspiring clinician, on diagnosis or treatment.
If you’re a parent, aunt/uncle, baby-sitter, etc., you may want to look into more
‘everyday’ applications to encourage healthy cognitive development.
